Dwarka to Somnath

The state of Gujarat occupies the northern extremity of the western sea board of India. The legendary shore temple of somnath is one of the 12 most sacred and renowed Hindi pilgrimage centers being one of the 12 Jyortirlingas of Lord Shiva in India. According to Hindu mythology somnath is as old as the creation built by none other than Moon God Himself. The temple derives its name from somraj, the Moon God, who originally said to have built this temple out of gold. This city has seen a tumultuous history – having been plundered more than once for its legendary wealth and having been resurrected every time by its devotes .
